East Austin has seen significant changes over the past 5 years. The 183 South project is fully open to traffic and not only easing the commute to our airpot, but offering an alternative to I35 (though any good Austinite knows that we will still complain about I35 congestion if only out of tradition). The city also considered foot and bike traffic during development by including 31 miles of hike and bike trails that will stretch from Callahan’s General Store all the way to Georgetown. Del Valle probably boasts the biggest change with the addition of the Circuit of Americas and the Tesla auto factory. While this area has been historically limited to industrial use, these improvements have pushed an influx of office and mixed use space as well as new housing developments like Easton Park which is close to McKinney State Park.
