Once the site of the Mueller Airport that closed in the 90s, the development of this “urban village” has been a collaboration between the city and the Catellus Development Corporation. The aim of the development, approved in 2004, was to be a model for responsible urban planning. In that vein, it is pedestrian friendly and compatible with the surrounding single-family neighborhoods. The development has dedicated 20% of its area to parks and open spaces, and if there is a street, there is a walking path and bike path to accompany it. You’ll find quite a few retail and office spaces alongside outstanding restaurants next to businesses like the Thinkery Museum and Alamo Drafthouse to Dell Children’s and Ascension Seton, making Mueller decidedly family friendly.
